Emily Blake
Mathematics Teacher
Emily is a passionate Mathematician. Energised when teaching Maths, her aim is to ensure that she inspires each of her students to develop not only the skills to successfully use Maths in everyday life but to develop their mathematical reasoning skills, and solve problems that are really designed to make students think.
After graduating in Mathematics from Exeter University, Emily undertook her PGCE at Oxford University where she developed her pedagogical knowledge and skills from lecturers who are leading Mathematicians in their fields. With practical experience gained in banking and marketing at JP Morgan, Barclays, and Tribal energy, Emily brings a holistic educational perspective to her classroom and loves spending time supporting each student in finding and developing their passions.
Giving up her time willingly, she has spent her last six summers as a camp counselor in faith-based camps in the UK and America, working to ensure that the students have opportunities to grow as individuals and develop values of integrity, generosity of spirit, and courage. Values that Emily holds true to her heart.
A talented sportswoman, Emily played first-team rugby at Exeter and then received an Oxford blue, playing rugby at Twickenham. Captaining her St Hugh's, Oxford rugby team to the Cuppers final, Emily knows the value that hard work and perseverance play in achieving success and she looks to bring this attitude to all aspects of her life.
