Sir Ivor Roberts
I grew up in Liverpool and studied at Oxford before embarking on a diplomatic career that took me to places such as Belgrade, Dublin, Rome, Beirut, Paris, Vanuatu and Madrid. I am the former President of Trinity College Oxford, and sit on a number of other boards.
Sir Ivor's story
Sir Ivor Roberts is a retired British diplomat and the former President of Trinity College, Oxford. Sir Ivor brings to Copperfield an international-mindedness gained from ambassadorial positions in Belgrade, Dublin, and Rome, from diplomatic postings in Lebanon, Paris, Canberra, Vanuatu, Madrid, and even as Head of Counter-Terrorism in the Foreign Office during the 1980s.
His intellectual and cultural interests and commitments are expansive - Sir Ivor is a Patron of the Venice in Peril Fund, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Linguists, the Chair of Trustees of the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Chair of the Keats-Shelley memorial Association. Educated at Keble College, Oxford, he played rugby and now serves as the President of Oxford University Rugby Football Club. We are thrilled to have Sir Ivor's international experience and expertise on our governing board.
